Identification and Quantification of Node Criticality through EWM–TOPSIS: A Study of Hong Kong’s MTR System

Abstract Public transport networks (PTNs) are critical in populated and rapidly densifying cities such as Hong Kong, Beijing, Shanghai, Mumbai, Tokyo. transportation plays an indispensable role urban resilience with integrated, complex, dynamically changeable network structure. Consequently, identifying quantifying node criticality complex PTNs is of great practical significance to improve robustness from damage. Despite the proposition various criteria address this problem, few succeeded more comprehensive aspects. Therefore, paper presents efficient thorough ranking method, that is, entropy weight method (EWM)–technology for order preference by similarity ideal solution (TOPSIS), named EWM–TOPSIS, evaluate taking into account features networks. Then we demonstrate it on Mass Transit Railway (MTR) Kong removing recovering top k nodes descending compare effectiveness degree centrality (DC), betweenness (BC), closeness (CC), proposed EWM–TOPSIS method. Four evaluation indicators, frequency same ( F ), global efficiency E size largest connected component (LCC), average path length (APL), computed performance four methods measure under different designed attack recovery strategies. The results has obvious advantages than others, especially early stage.
